Christian Connection

Christian Connection

About: This popular dating site brings together Christians from across the UK and features several different kinds of searching and matching technologies and a new Flash-based Instant Chat system to allow members to communicate directly with one another.

Fingermouse Internet built the graphical front end and developed a consistent look across the site, which has grown and seen extra features added month on month. Fingermouse has developed many of the new features and has rewritten large sections of the background code in order to optimise speed and flexibility. Christian Connection will be going international in 2004.

This site has been featured many times in the National Press and in the media, and is the UK's most frequently visited Christian website.

Seventy Thirty

Seventy Thirty

About: Seventy Thirty are a partner-headhunting organisation for affluent people around the world. They find and vet potential partners for millionaires using their network of contacts and staff of professional psychologists. Fingermouse is involved in day-to-day maintenance of the website and producing print designs where necessary. The current site design (not reflected in the thumbnail image here) was created in early 2008 by a third party, with technical assistance (where necessary) from Fingermouse. The use of two menus (one vertical and one horizontal, with one element being present in both) seems to be an odd decision, as it breaks user expectations about navigation heirachy.

Fingermouse developed Seventy Thirty's client management system, an online database which handles all their contacts, communications and client details. This allows Seventy Thirty staff access to client information anywhere in the world, and helps them to keep track of their communication and the status of each contact or potential match.

Seventy Thirty are regularly featured in the national press, radio and television.

Greenbelt

Greenbelt Festivals

About: Fingermouse has been involved with Greenbelt Festivals for several years, and has seen the site undergo a number of changes. Fingermouse has been responsible for designing the entire site layout and graphics, and developing a MySQL/PHP - based admin system. The admin system allows members of the Greenbelt staff to update the entire front page and elements throughout the site with the latest information. The layout and function is based on a series of PHP modules developed by Fingermouse.

The site also offers secure online ordering for tickets, seminar tapes and merchandise, all held on a separate secure server.

Note: The layout as seen on the current version of the site has been modified by a third party and is, in our opinion, much more confusing than the original Fingermouse layout. The navigation has been broken up and is frequently repeated on each page - a large number of sensible interface design guidelines have been broken. While we appreciate that the current site is attractive, it should have been developed with users in mind - we think that the most recent update is a step backwards for Greenbelt and their efforts to be accessible.

the7stars

the7stars

About: A brand new media agency, co-founded by Colin Mills (former Managing Director of Carat) and Jenny Biggam (former Carat Marketing Director). Mark Jarvis (also previously of Carat as Head of Media) will be joining the agency later.

Fingermouse Internet was approached with an initial design, which was then modified for development in CSS to allow accessible, flexible content. The entire site is built using XHTML and CSS, with a PHP templating system and basic content management system handling site copy. Site administrators can login and update existing pages or create new documents. The site also features a user administration system and folder security system for handling client files securely.

Following the initial launch, several minor interface changes were made to brighten up the site, introduce more consistency between pages with different content lengths and include a spinning logo. Flash was not used in this project, although future development may well see its inclusion.

The company launch and associated site has received significant media attention, with reports in MediaWeek, BLM and Marketing Week.
